Spa Soaps…

Our new Spa Soaps came out this week.  We love them because each spa soap is made with only high quality essential oils and formulated with specific face and body beneficial clays. There are four different soaps in this collection.  These bars are more rustic looking and heavier in weight than the majority of our other bars due to the process we use to make these.

DSCN0185Spiced Orange Spa Soap contains French red clay and is best suited for normal to oily skin types. French red clay comes from Hematite Iron, its coloring the result of the copper oxides contained in the rock. It is rich in kaolinite, illite, montmorillonitea and calcite; it cleanses, detoxifies and exfoliates the skin, leaving it refreshed, toned and rejuvenated.DSCN0212

Lemongrass Spa Soap contains Kaolin clay and is recommended for all types of skin types but is especially beneficial for dry skin issues. Kaolin is the mildest of all clays and helps stimulate circulation to the skin while gently exfoliating and cleansing it. It does not draw oils from the skin, so it is best suited on dry skin types without negative results. Kaolin as found in nature usually contains varying amounts of other minerals such as muscovite, quartz, feldspar, and anatase.DSCN0206

Eucalyptus Mint Spa Soap contains Bentonite clay and is recommended for all types of skin problems and to speed healing. Bentonite, also referred to as Montmorillonite, is one of the most effective and powerful healing clays. It is composed of aged volcanic ash and unique due to its ability to produce an “electrical charge” when hydrated. Upon contact with fluid, its electrical components change, giving it the ability to absorb toxins. Bentonite is known for its ability to absorb and remove toxins, heavy metals, impurities, and chemicals. Healing clays like Bentonite have a high concentration of minerals including silica, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, and potassium.

DSCN0158Lavender Tea Tree Spa Soap contains French green clay and is recommended for all skin types but especially helpful for skin suffering from acne, eczema and psoriasis. French green clay contains montmorillonite, decomposed plant material such as kelp and seaweed, magnesium, calcium, potassium, dolomite, silica, manganese, phosporous, silicon, copper, selenium, and up to nine mineral oxides. These elements work synergistically to nourish and gently detoxify skin, while the added olive oil moisturizes and softens it.

Bugs fear M. GRACE…and with good reason…

Bug Be Gone Lotion Stick at Horse Camp June 2014M. GRACE just finished a 3 day Horse Camp at a local college. Having been riding for a little over a year now she knew what to expect but the days were long, hot and buggy.  Luckily before the first day of camp we threw our Bug Be GONE Lotion Stick in her backpack – just in case…

She ended up using the lotion stick each and every day and said it helped tremendously!  She even joked we should get some for the horses.  While we have not personally evaluated the Bug Be GONE lotion stick on horses we have tried it on ourselves and many other folks.  Everyone agrees this product really does a great job at decreasing or eliminating the annoying biting creatures.

It glides on smooth straight from the tube, no messy globs and no sticky spray here.  You don’t even have to rub the product in.  Open the tube, glide it across your arms, legs, neck, anything that is exposed and go enjoy the outdoors.

Bug Be GONE Lotion Stick group

A basket full of bug protection.

Our Bug Be GONE Lotion Stick has a light herbal smell to it – nothing that will make you cringe and nothing to make the person next to you suspect you are wearing it.  In addition to the gentle smell it is also gentle on your skin – no chemicals here!  This product is all natural made up of avocado butter, beeswax, sweet almond oil, meadowform oil, cedarwood essential oil, lavender essential oil, rosemary essential oil, clove leaf essential oil and cinnamon essential oil.

Avocado Butter is a soft butter with a mild scent obtained from the oil of the avocado tree.  It is known to help moisturize and soften rough, dry, and cracked skin.

Beeswax is known to lock in moisture, foster cells, and protect skin from damaging environmental factors. It effectively softens skin and creates a long-lasting protective coating against the elements. It is also a naturally nourishing moisturizer.

Sweet Almond Oil is a pale yellow carrier oil extracted from the sweet almond nut.  It contains Vitamin E which nourishes the skin and helps relieve irritation, inflammation and itching.

Meadowfoam oil has received its name because of its resemblance, while in bloom, to the white foam blowing on the ocean.  When applied to the skin, it forms a moisture barrier and will assist the skin with preventing moisture loss.

Cedarwood essential oil comes from the Cedarwood tree which is native to North America and grows up to 100 feet and ages up to 1,000 years.  It has a soft, woody and “pencil-like” smell. Cedarwood essential oil has been in use as a mosquito and insect repellant for a long time. When used in vaporizers, it drives away mosquitoes, flies and other insects in a large area around the house. It is regularly sprinkled on pillows or sheets at night so mosquitoes and other similarly irritating bugs and pests are driven away while one sleeps.

Rosemary

Rosemary from our garden.

Lavender essential oil is extracted mostly from the flowers of the lavender plant, primarily through steam distillation.  The smell of lavender essential oil is potent for many types of bugs like mosquitoes, midges, and moths.

Rosemary essential oil is mostly extracted from the rosemary plant leaves.  It has antimicrobial and antiseptic qualities that make it beneficial in efforts to eliminate eczema, dermatitis, oily skin, and acne.

Clove essential oil comes from an evergreen tree which produces a flower bud that has numerous medicinal properties.  These health benefits can be attributed to its antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic, antiviral, aphrodisiac and stimulating properties.

Lavender

Lavender blooms.

Cinnamon essential oil is one of the most popular herbs for flavoring and medicinal uses and also a great mosquito repellent. Research has now proven that cinnamon oil is very effective in killing mosquito larvae. This research has paved the way for finding an environmentally safe solution for solving the global menace and disease-spreading capacity of mosquitoes.

It is important to note that the Cedarwood essential oil and Cinnamon essential oil are both very strong and potent.  It is recommended to avoid Cedarwood during pregnancy.  For that reason, we suggest you check with your doctor before using our Bug Be GONE Lotion Stick if you are pregnant or plan to use it on an infant.

The Bug Be GONE Lotion Stick is available all summer long.  It comes in a convenient 2 ounce twist top tube for $9.

The benefits of Rosemary Mint Soap…

This soap smells crisp and clean.

Two new batches of our most popular Rosemary Mint soap are curing now.  This soap is made entirely of essential oils.  Mint is a very beneficial ingredient for skin care since it can help to soothe and calm skin that’s itchy or infected. It can be used to help heal bites from mosquitoes, wasps and bees and  contains vitamin A which is said to strengthen skin tissue and help reduce oily skin.  Rosemary is known for moisturizing the skin and supporting healthy collagen development to fighting off skin-damaging free radicals.

These soaps will be ready for Market in about 6 weeks. This soap sold out quickly at last month’s Herb Faire. The scent is perfect for both men and women.
